First, please take a moment to pray for those affected by Helene and now Milton. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
As you vote on Election Day, November 5th, or earlier, please remember FACTS. Despite recent comments by the IBT about Democrats not helping the working class over the last 40 years, we can speak TRUTH to the FACT that the Biden/Harris Administration saved over 1,000,000 pensions by signing the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. This includes pensions for not just retired workers but also for active workers.
For those of us in the grassroots movement of the NUCPP who fought hard to save our pensions, we continue to thank the Biden/Harris Administration and those Democrats who supported us. We fought for our pensions during the prior administration, even meeting with the White House staff and many legislators on both sides of the aisle. Despite all of the promises, no solution was agreed upon. Within 49 days of the Biden/Harris Administration taking office, the Butch Lewis Act, as part of
the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, was signed into law, affecting more than 10.1 million Americans. It is essential to mention that this bill was passed only by Democrats, and NOT ONE REPUBLICAN voted for it.
In addition to saving our pensions, the Biden/Harris Administration has also continued to protect and support the enhancement of Social Security and Medicare. This includes slashing the costs of certain prescription drugs and lowering out-of-pocket costs, which affect retirees and will benefit workers regardless of political affiliation.
To those Pension Warriors from CSPF, please remember that if the Biden/Harris Administration would not have signed the Butch Lewis Act, we would already have suffered the draconian cuts of up to 70%. It is equally important to realize that as we go into 2025, we would’ve only been receiving $100 per month.
For these reasons, we continue to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for President of the United States. Please consider these FACTS as you cast your Vote on or before November 5th.
